ALBUM REVIEW: Growing Up, Vol. 3 by A L E X

Growing Up, Vol. 3 is the third full-length album from American producer A L E X. Honestly, it has been a long while since reviewing Vol. 1 and 2, but it was nice to kick back and just relax with these beats. The songs were extremely chill and were all incredibly solid. A favourite of mine from the album is "Green Hills", mainly due to the Sonic sampling. Overall, I did enjoy listening to this, even though it felt like it was going on for quite a while. A great addition to the Growing Up saga.

ALBUM REVIEW: Growing Up, Vol. 2 by A L E X

here have a cassette, it's the only image of the album I could find
PART TWO MOTHERFUCKERS! Growing Up, Vol. 2 follows the same vein as volume 1, but I found myself enjoying the songs on the sequel a lot more. I don't know why, but I had my head bopping, toes tapping, all those generic things that show that you enjoyed something. Of course, there is the whole thing that I can't really remember how a certain song went, but I really enjoyed this one.

ALBUM REVIEW: Growing Up, Vol. 1 by A L E X

Image result for growing up vol 1 album coverThe album is very chilled and plays on electronic music. Using samples from film, TV, video games and much more, it is a very creative album, and it features something that I do adore in albums: short songs. No song in GUV1 reaches 4 minutes. The longest song is 3:27 and it really helps in easy listening when you don't want a song to drag. I will say though, it doesn't grab my attention. I want to hear something that will make me want to sing it and hum it for days after. GUV1 doesn't really have any memorable songs but works well when you're just listening through it for relaxation. Additionally, there isn't really much transition between songs and leaves a gap of nothingness between each song, which is something I like to avoid honestly. Overall, Growing Up, Vol. 1 is a nice album, but doesn't stick the landing when it comes to memorability.
